Using SMTP Auth with Eudora for Mac.

  1. Open Eudora
  2. From the Special menu choose Settings, which brings up the settings window.
  3. Click on Getting Started and enter the following from your Account Information:
Login Name: your Email Account/POP Username from your Account Information
    Mail Server: mail.chpl.net or zeus.chapel1.com.
This will be the part of your address after your e-mail
(Example Lee@zeus.chapel1.com  would have a mail server of zeus.chapel1.com)

Real name: your name the way you want it to appear on messages from you
    SMTP Server: lee@zeus.chapel1.com
Return address: your E-mail Alias or E-mail/Reply-To Address from your Account Information
  4. Then, click on Sending Mail
and make sure you have the following:
    SMTP Server: zeus.chapel1.com or mail.chpl.net
    Check Allow Authorization

    Click OK
  5. You're Done! You have set up your Eudora Email program to check your Chapel email.

Unfortunately, Eudora doesn't have separate username and password settings for the Incoming and Outgoing mail servers. So, you can only use mail.chpl.net or zeus.chapel1.com with an email personality (set of settings) that will check your pop3 mail as well. This is a limitation of Eudora's software.
